looking for food in accordance with the
provisions of my religion. Adapting to an environment that is predominantly
non-Muslim is not easy. Many of my friends there only knew of our prohibition
not to consume pork, but the definition of halal was not like that. Actually we
are also prohibited from eating in places where there is a pork menu. Because
it is feared that cooking utensils, including plates or spoons, have been
mixed.
It sounds really complicated right, but
that's the rule. The first second week I was filled with junk food (or what is
fast food) almost every day we can eat only KFC and MCD. Actually, even then,
we are not sure whether it is halal or not because in processing chicken / beef
we have a special procedure so that the meat is halal for consumption.
Imagine how wasteful I am? Whahaha but
sometimes I cut it by making noodles. Luckily I brought Indomie. And not
infrequently I also cook sardines and omelet. For savings because I think I'm
still quite long here, the time of my money must be spent first just to eat it
yet.
At that time when I returned to the
practicum, I saw that there was something like a street food like street food
that reads dumplings. Take it easy for me and my friend to ask if this
ingredient is making siomay. Waw turns out they don't sell pork menus. So glad
we were at that time, almost forgot there was not only dumplings but also there
was chicken ball, squid ball, kikiam like tempura in Indonesia. The price is
cheap, one stick is only 10-20PHP. It feels like my tongue, even since it has
been my favorite food, you know. Every day we never stop for food snacks. Yes,
we know it's not a healthy food, but if it's a problem, it's not difficult to
ask.
Foods in the Philippines are mostly sour
and salty. Very few sell spicy food, of course this makes me miss spicy food.
Until finally my friend Lishe and friends introduced us to "Tiger
Winx". The price is quite affordable compared to KFC / MCD hahaha. But it
feels so skyrocketing, the taste feels the same won't be forgotten on this
tongue. They also have various flavors not only spicy, BBQ, Teriyaki and
others.
Since that time both of these foods have
been my favorite there, even though they are still possible. The taste of the
food is really not forgotten!
