Almost
every day Manila is washed by rain, except today August 10 2018. This morning
the three of us, Annisa, Kandi and me, will visit
the school which will be our first place of practice. Accompanied by two
mentors from UST we headed to Dominican School Manila, located very close to
the dormitory.
We
went straight to a room. There we became acquainted with teachers and school
staff. We also explained what we were going to teach and which classes were
placed in and introduced to their respective cooperating teachers. Initially
the cooperating teacher was Mrs. Binuya, but because it turned out that she
was teaching the Science Subject using Filipino, finally the school replaced
the cooperating teacher with Miss Fruelda.
After we were acquainted, we also went
around the school from the teacher's room, the school office, the library that
we would use as a place to study later after teaching until getting acquainted
with classes especially in grade 3. All the teachers and staff were very
friendly I was very fortunate to be given the opportunity to teach here.
Dominican School Manila was founded in June
1958 by Religious Missionaries of St. Dominic in response to providing Catholic
education to children who live in the vicinity of UST. Dominican is quite
large, they have high-rise buildings ranging from kindergarten to senior high
school. Included with facilities that support learning such as comfortable
classrooms and libraries that provide complete books. At this school there is a
spacious and very clean canteen so we are very comfortable during recess.
